Modify the Electoral College
I am proposing a modification to our current Electoral College – in a nutshell I would like to see the system changed to where each electoral vote is counted separately as opposed to having all the electoral votes grouped by state.
In Washington state, as in many other states, our electoral votes get diminished by large blocks of votes driving the way electoral votes are allocated.
In Washington the entire block of electoral votes is driven by the greater Seattle area. That area has a distinctly different value system than the more conservative areas that are not part of the greater Puget Sound area. And as a result, the rest of the state is not accurately or fairly represented.
In my proposal the Electoral College would simply be the total of each electoral vote rather than grouped by state. It seems much more equitable as well as more accurately representing the will of the voters nationwide.
Can you help initiate a real change that makes America a better country? Contact your senators and representatives in its U.S. congressional delegation and let them know how you feel about this proposal.
