Recall not justified

I am a resident of Dalton Gardens, and I would like to weigh in on the recall election facing our mayor and the City Council. It is my understanding that the mayor and City Council initially refused the Streeters’ request, but after the Streeters brought legal action against the city and several thousand dollars of our money was spent, the city’s attorney and the judge involved advised the council to negotiate a compromise. So they wisely did. Instead of three interior lots, they agreed to two, each one well over an acre. In my mind, this is still in keeping with the spirit of Dalton Gardens’ one-acre minimum lot size.

If the existing City Council is replaced by a council that backs out of the compromise agreement, I anticipate the Streeters will once again take up legal action against the city which could result in tens of thousands of dollars in additional legal fees with no guarantee that the city will prevail, in an attempt to keep just two additional lots from being added to Dalton Gardens.

The actions of the mayor and City Council do not come close to justifying a recall.
