Second Amendment is clear

“We The People …”, perhaps one of the most quoted phrases of the preamble to the United States Constitution, would seem to indicate that each and every one of us, all inclusive and as individuals, and without exception, come under the protections and guidance of this great Nation’s foundational document.

Miguel Melbin, in his “Reinterpret the Second” letter (March 17), would suggest that this does not apply to other instances of “people” included within the Constitution. It should be noted from historical documents, that the Second Amendment was included after much heated debate and deliberation, its meaning clear in that individual armed citizens had been instrumental in the wining of the recent war. The Constitution might not have been accepted without its inclusion.

You cannot now pick and choose its meaning to satisfy your own beliefs.
