Council doesn’t prioritize safety

I have decided to come out of retirement. Yep, I’m thinking a new career as a home burglar is the way to go. I know it’s highly profitable.

Looking at Spokane’s crime rate statistics, it seems obvious that crime does pay. CityRating.com shows that Spokane has crime rates that are some of the highest in the state, and even the nation. With Spokane ranking 79 out of 80 cities in Washington (Tukwila being the worst), we’re scraping the bottom.

Do I blame our police? No, I blame our sitting City Council. They have their/our priorities out of whack.

I don’t think having bicycle lanes for less than 1 percent of the population is necessary. I don’t believe having state-of-the-art parking meters is mandated. I believe designating Spokane a “sanctuary city” that encourages violating federal law is criminal.

What I do believe is that we need more police: detectives, patrols, investigators, drug enforcement, etc. Our alleged “representatives” rarely get it right. Instead of always boasting about this city, how about making it the safest city in Washington to live in?

Crime shouldn’t pay. We need more police. Budget like you care about those you represent.
