The wall will work best

The border wall battle shapes up to be the biggest political fight of 2019. President Trump is unlikely to rescind his emergency declaration since he feels he has enough congressional support to veto any bills crafted to stop his executive order.

The question remains: Is the wall really needed? Some critics like to claim that this is the Iron Curtain all over again. In both cases, walls were and are breached because of greater economic and sociopolitical opportunities on the other side. In our case, many of those looking for better opportunities (but not so good for us) are drug dealers, human slavers violent criminals and perhaps terrorists .

As a symbol of power, the U.S.-Mexico border wall is like the Iron Curtain but substantially different in that theirs was to keep good people in while our will be to keep bad people out. It’s not a stretch to say that good people wanting in may be bad for others when they overburden social programs intended for U.S. citizens. Sad to say, the Soviet model worked well for a long time, and equally sad to say, our best way to stop an undesirable immigrant invasion is by building a strong wall on the southern border.
