Pave there, not here

The recent articles in the Spokesman-Review about West Plains development has put me in full-blown NIMBY mode.

When we moved down here after 30 years in Alaska onto our small farm in Colbert, we were a bit concerned about northward development sprawl up Highways 2 and 395. We watched as Wandermere became full of McMansions and cheap apartments and hoped that existing development would not expand up Highway 2 to start crowding our rural piece of heaven.

Now I think we can rest a little easier. It sounds like every square foot of land on the West Side is going to be paved and built upon to support the burgeoning economic development there. All I can say is, “Thank you” to the developers. You don’t want to go north. Go west, young men.
