Shawn Vestal column

Kudos to The Spokesman-Review! In the March 13 paper, leftist columnist Shawn Vestal derides and lambastes the several sheriffs who, out of concern for the constitution, say they do not intend to attempt to enforce I-1639 and its attacks on the Second Amendment and the right “to bear arms.” This is no surprise since Vestal has repeatedly come out against guns.

In the same March 13 paper is a guest opinion article by former Spokane County prosecuting attorney and law expert Don Brockett in which he cites the U.S. Constitution and articles which prove that Governor Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson are wrong and the various sheriffs are right in their stand against enforcing I-1639.

One of the dictates of I-1639 is that if your “improperly secured” gun is stolen and used in a crime, you, the gun’s owner, can be held liable. Since stolen automobiles are often used in crimes, I wonder how Vestal would like it if the same nonsense were applied to cars and his car were stolen and used in a crime, possibly even a death occurring. Would he then agree that he should be held liable? Again, kudos to the SR and Don Brockett.
