Majority should elect

In response to Joanne Bovey’s letter “Give us a voice,” (March 19) — I agree that my vote doesn’t count. In 2016 my vote was one of the majority of people in the USA who voted for Hillary but the majority did not elect the president.

Again, in the 2018 election for the 5th Congressional District, my vote for Lisa, along with the majority of Spokane, didn’t matter as most of the district voted for CMR.

So how can we make votes count? Perhaps by understanding that a majority should elect our representatives and not look to subdivide districts and states to further the divide between people of the United States. Vote for people who will respect and ensure that everyone eligible can vote and that a majority should govern for all citizens.
