An honor and a privilege

I had the privilege of being a Guardian on the Honor Flight April 29 and 30. There were approximately 100 veterans from the age of 68 to 94. Take a chartered flight to Washington D.C. Take in the Air Force Memorial and onto a luxurious hotel. Have a beautiful banquet dinner. Up early have another delicious breakfast onto the rest of the Military Memorials. Back home at 8:30 p.m.

Now let me give you the rest of the story: These gentlemen are the best of the best. They came from all branches of our military, did all jobs known in the military. They spread from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Some had the duty of fighting in both Korea and Vietnam! I have never been in a room full of so many heroes, humble, sacrifice, love-of-county proud men. Left when told went where told. No questions asked! Their job is to “do.” Our military is and will always be the backbone of the United States of America.

It was an emotional trip that you have to experience. It can’t be put into words. There was not a dry eye at the Vietnam Memorial. They all had friends. After my visit I also now have friends on the wall. Veterans always had my respect but I received knowledge you can only get from this special trip.

If you need a charity to contribute to please consider the Inland NW Honor Flight. No one gets paid, we all volunteer our time. 100% of all funds go toward the fee for each veteran to have a paid trip with no worries.

I want to thank my special veterans Richard, Michael and John. It was my honor and privilege to be your assistant. Thank you all veterans. I look forward to my next Honor Flight.

God bless America!
