It’s obvious: we like cars

A Danish bicycle planner is coming to Spokane this month to help promote cycling and try to coax someone to use all the empty bicycle lanes .

The city has failed over the last 70 years to convince people to ride the subsidized buses so now they are trying to persuade us to ride bikes. It is no secret that the city is eliminating car lanes and the city and state are increasing taxes in an effort to limit our usage of our cars.

Why do we have a city bike master plan? This sounds like Communist China where they have a top-down command economy where the people are left out of the decision-making processes.

Our city’s sanctuary city plan has led to so much property crime and lawlessness that it has made riding the bus and bikes a risky proposition for children and even adults. We don’t need a Danish bicycle planner to tell us what our wonderful free market, free enterprise system has already clearly determined: We all prefer to drive our own cars because they are safer, more convenient, time savers, and required in bad weather.
