What we’ve learned scares me

Thank you to Tom Topping for your direct and eloquent letter (“What we’ve learned,” April 29) about what we have all learned from the Mueller report. It is now a fact that Russia has invaded our country by influencing our election. Although the report did not say that President Trump colluded in that influence, he has done absolutely nothing about it to date. He hasn’t even acknowledged this with any kind of angst. Isn’t our president supposed to defend our country? With this knowledge, how can any of us rest until something is done urgently to stop this in 2020?

Since I was old enough to know anything, it was that the Russians were our No. 1 enemy. At this point in our country’s existence, it is now a crisis because we seriously can lose our democracy. Please urge your legislators - Republican, Independent and Democrat - to take immediate action and stand up to stop Russia now. Whatever it takes, I see nothing more urgent or important.
