No more dress codes

In almost every school there are extremely strict dress codes that prohibit young girls and boys from wearing what they want.

Although the dress code has restrictions for both boys and girls, it applies heavily to girls. By enforcing a dress code it provides an inadequate amount of clothing options for girls when the weather starts to warm up. Most dress codes won’t allow girls to wear shorts that go above their fingertips or tank tops that aren’t thicker than two fingers.

Often times girls will be pulled out of class, sent to the office and be forced to change or even go home, all because the teachers feel like it is a distraction for the young boys in the class. Teachers need to leave girls alone for dressing comfortably for the different weather. When you pull a girl out of class and force her to change her clothes or even send her home, you are telling her that making sure boys have a “distraction free” environment is more important than her education.

Instead of humiliating girls for what they choose to wear, support young girls for their confidence.
