EC disenfranchises millions

In the morning paper, an article appeared about Michigan regarding legislative districts to change the Republican and Democratic vote areas. We all know this is done here in Washington. Here some people want to split our state for the same reason.

Let’s get real. Let’s say the state has two million people and they all vote. The vote ends up with one million and one persons — that gives all the state’s electoral college votes to one person. How wrong can this be?

In the ‘50s and ‘60s on poll day, I got off work at 4 p.m., came home and went to vote. I came home to hear that they elected a new president. Wow! Our polls were not closed yet. Why did I vote? When I say I, that means millions of people on the West Coast and now includes Hawaii and Alaska.

How do we stop this? Very simple Let’s do away with the so-called Electoral College and give everyone a chance to vote. It’s popular vote for everything else. So why not for president? According to the dictionary, this Electoral College is a spinoff of the way they voted in the Holy Roman Empire.

Again, I say Wow!
