Lower the voting age

When it comes to global warming, the newer generations are often told that we need to change what we’re doing to make the earth a better place because it is our future. If it is in fact our future, why can’t we have a say in how our government is run?

If we lowered the voting age to 16, we could have a say in the direction our legislation is going. Many adults say that we shouldn’t be able to vote because we are too young, reckless, and know nothing about politics. While some of this may be true, we could certainly implement a politics and government class into our sophomore year. If that class became a reality, the teenagers today could easily become more educated about politics than the current adults.

At 16-years-old, teenagers are able to drive, pay taxes and work without restricted hours. It would only be fair to let us have a vote in our own future.
