Government’s duty

According to Larry Luton (“Let’s talk about it”, May 19), “The Green New Deal says it is ‘The Duty of Our Government to Secure’ for all people of the United States for generations to come:” See list.

No wonder this nation has so many people expecting a handout, with statements such as this one.

It is not the duty of our government to do these things. It is the duty of the citizens to seek and secure these things for themselves.

It is the duty of the government to regulate that they are available.
