Lockwood inspiring, dedicated

As citizens who genuinely care about all of our young people and their successful futures, we should count ourselves grateful for the women and men willing to volunteer their time to serve on a local school board, and who bring to this a palpable commitment to the all of the district’s students. My hat is off to those who are now serving, or running for election to serve, on a local board.

Though I do not personally know all of the fine citizens running for local school board seats, I do know and have had the opportunity to work with Nikki Lockwood, who is running for an open seat on the Spokane Public Schools board. In each interaction with Ms. Lockwood, I have been impressed by her professionalism, quality of thinking, and her dedication to all of our youth.

With the diverse tapestry of young people who attend schools in our community today, it is my perspective that in Nikki Lockwood, SPS will have a board member who sees and values each of them and their individual talents and interests, and one who will always work in their best interests, as well as in the interests of the professional educators who serve them.
