Beggs’ longtime fight
I met Breean Beggs on a flight in 2014 and he told me of his support for Smart Justice and his love for Spokane. Smart Justice reduces crime, incarceration and recidivism. Breean is finding solutions that require experience, cooperation, hard work, and a long view toward the future. His research is extensive. No glory, just hard work. He’s been fighting the good fight for most of his life — working on the tough problems.
Cindy Wendle is also running for City Council president. Cindy is married to Chud Wendle of the Wendle Ford family. Cindy’s experience includes working for Washington Trust Bank, co-owning Wendle Square, on the board of East Soccer Club and Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. Her bio lists no experience working in government, community committees, or programs other than being a board member.
She hasn’t been in the arena fighting for programs; she wants to start as council president and skip the experience of working on neighborhood councils, or as a regular council member. No experience.
City government is a great responsibility, and it rightly requires digging deep, getting your hands dirty, looking for options and drawing on experience. We are lucky to have Breean Beggs.
