Lockwood a community advocate

I am a teacher with Spokane Schools, a member of the Spokane Education Association, and a trainer for Culturally Responsive Strategies. I support SEA’s endorsement of Nikki Lockwood for School Board Position 1.

Nikki knows the legislature has not been fully funding education and a levy will fund necessary programs for all students. As a school board member, Nikki will be responsible for tax dollars. Tax dollars will be spent thoughtfully in ways that most positively benefit our children.

Nikki understands that for our schools to be most effective, students and staff must feel safe in their classrooms. She will support our educators as they support all of our students.

As a Culturally Responsive Classroom teacher and trainer, I have seen what happens when we put relationships first. When we empower students by giving them opportunities to build strong peer-to-peer and educator-to-student relationships, students thrive. Nikki recognizes children can be held to high standards of behavior and learning while educators respect the many challenges that our students bring to school with them each day.

Nikki Lockwood is ready to advocate for our children, our educators, and our communities to enrich the school experience of Spokane’s children.
