Pro-business, not pro-labor

In Spokane, the local chapters of Association of General Contractors (AGC) and Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) have endorsed Nadine Woodward for Spokane mayor and Cindy Wendle for Spokane City Council president.

These associations are not pro-labor, despite their ties to construction. These associations are pro-business, have participated in weakening and busting of trade unions, communicated anti-immigrant views and have embraced right to work legislation. These associations think that lower taxes and deregulation builds working-class solidarity, which is absolutely wrong.

The AGC especially, at the national level, has supported the construction of the wall, as well as President Trump’s rhetoric regarding the U.S.-Mexico border wall; sounds like this parallels along the lines of white nationalism. It was also concerning to hear that the executive director of the local AGC has ties to the fascist sympathizing entity of the Washington Policy Center, the group that brought Nigel Farage to Spokane.

The city of Spokane has two choices for mayor (one being a write-in) who both recognize the absolute importance of human dignity and worker solidarity. A vote for Cindy Wendle and a vote for Nadine Woodward is not a vote aligned with worker solidarity.
