Creating failing schools
Because of a great lack of voter interest and uninvolved parents, the Mary Walker School District fails our community and few, if any, care!
We spend 13% less on teaching and 31% more on administration than districts of comparable size, a 44% variance! The new budget gives no indication of the amount of money programs will receive.
The superintendent is unable to account for how $460,000 of levy money has and will be spent, and spent $70,000 on lawyers in a failed attempt to not provide services to two students.
The majority of our elementary students failed state tests, 89% of fifth-graders failed to meet math standards. In 2014, 84% of our ninth-grade class was on track; now 49% are.
Top graduates have to take remedial courses in college! Disgustedly and inexplicably, apathy rules and effective change is not made. Enrollment declines as students leave to seek improved academic results. Staff leaves because of a hostile work or emotional environment; others have been pushed out or reassigned.
The very few who will vote in November can become informed by reviewing problems, solutions, share experiences and create a platform to guide the board at Marywalkerschooldistrict.org.
