Your bias is showing

In response to Shawn Vestal’s recent comments re: the video “Curing Spokane,” I too have a “sinking feeling.” Mine stems from the obvious bias of Mr. Vestal and The Spokesman-Review. Although Curing Spokane had nothing to do with Nadine Woodward, Vestal couldn’t resist taking another shot at her.

Nadine Woodward is knowledgeable, well-spoken, considerate of everyone and passionate about the future of Spokane. From personal knowledge, I know that she listens to all views, carefully weighs the facts and speaks from an informed position. Supporters of her opponent characterizing her as a “talking head” are simply wrong.

In the last few years our homeless problem has become worse while the City Council wrings its collective hands, throwing money at the problem with no visible improvement. In addition, the City Council has wandered off into Never Never Land (elephant hooks, oil trains, nuclear free zones, City Hall warming center). Moreover, current policies have stifled citizen input by limiting Council forum participation to once monthly and allowing audience members to rudely stand and turn their backs when they disagree with those addressing the Council.

Spokane needs new ideas to solve our major problems, not more of the same. Nadine Woodward is the fresh voice that we need.
