Dividing Washington not a win-win

Efforts to divide our state’s people will not benefit Washingtonians. The current effort to create a “Liberty” state has nothing to do with liberty and freedom for all – no matter our race, gender, religion, or economic status, the Second Amendment, job opportunity and security, health – including clean water and air, etc. This effort is instead about the diabolic pursuit of a theocratic, white supremacist, prejudicial region.

Wide-eyed proponents, Rene’ Holaday and Matt Shea, members of alt-right groups, call for “bloodshed” and would wield the knife against women and men who uncover the fear and hate-based misinformation of these ridiculous plans for our beloved, beautiful state.

I know my large extended family in Washington state, independent and diverse, will not be conned or preyed upon by the malevolence of this small cult of misguided zealots. Instead, we will strive for the values that our common democracy portends: integrity, free and fair elections, rule of law to support an open society, government checks and balances, public service and common sense.
