We’re better than this
It has been fourteen months & six days since a judge ordered the Trump administration to STOP the practice of separating children, and to return the children it had back to their families. During that time 911 more children have been separated from their parents, and who knows how many more have been separated from family members other than their parents.
This is a traumatic experience for any child, and it shows who we are as a nation how we treat the most vulnerable amongst us, and once again as this administration continues its war against the vulnerable. As it tells children with life-threatening illnesses and people with disabilities that their lives do not matter, by ending the “medical deferred action” policy that was the only thing for some, keeping them alive.
Our nation is better than this, and we must not let what has become “normal” from this administration, keep us from speaking up for those that are without a voice. Every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, loved and to be healthy.
