Get proactive on protection
So many Americans feel unsafe wherever they go that you would think some common-sense steps could be taken to reduce mass shootings. Guess what, in the current atmosphere there is very little that can be done. Yes, studying social media helps, mostly with teens, but the police and armed security can’t be everywhere. If an under-the-radar shooter wants to kill, they will get a gun to shoot with no matter what kind of gun control is in place. Stricter background checks on all gun sales, private or not, should be taken. They can only do so much, though.
I think it is time for more Americans to protect themselves and the defenseless around them. There needs to be a ton more concealed weapons permits applied for, and more firearm training classes available. Law-abiding, common-sense citizens should embrace their right to arms, and I’m not talking about open carry. All that does is increase anxiety. Malls or any large public gathering place or stop (you’re doing it right, Walmart) should do away with their “No guns allowed” policy. Do you think that a deranged killer cares about a stupid sign?
Not everyone would rush to the sound of gunfire, nor should they, but if they are close when the maniac starts shooting they could nail them. If not, they could gather the vulnerable behind them and provide some protection.
Attitudes need to change.
Right now, not later.
