I’m not represented now
The proponents of Liberty state claim a lack of representation and frustration over different visions of government as the main reasons for splitting from Western Washington. Boy, do I know how they feel!
I’ve lived in Washington District 4 since 1991. Our so-called representatives haven’t been engaged in issues of local concern at all. No support for roads, just whining about roundabouts; no support for water or water infrastructure, no understanding of the issues of growth, the environment, health care, etc. which face the community at large. No understanding of the need to engage regionally with our Idaho partners. All we get are party talking points, with little evidence of legislative work to achieve those. And now they want their own state, where presumably they can lord around and do nothing without having to drive over Snoqualmie Pass.
I’ve never voted for a District 4 incumbent. Not Sen. Padden, not Rep. McCaslin (who holds an apparently hereditary position) and certainly not the extreme, uncommunicative Rep. Shea. I’ve no representation here. Maybe I could join with like-minded folks in our district and secede from Liberty!
