Candidate forum showed leader

I attended the League of Women Voter’s mayor candidates forum with Mr. Stuckart and Ms. Woodward that was held in City Hall. Thank you for organizing this event and sticking to the issues. Except for a few comments from Woodward toward Stuckart, both gave their own views on issues.

It is obvious that Stuckart understands the facts, issues, processes and complexities much deeper than Woodward.

It seems that Woodward could take notes from him, learn more and respond more thoroughly.

Unfortunately, she focused on her endorsements and a ride along with the police as though either of those things make her a better candidate. Endorsements reflect an endorser’s agenda, which may or may not lead to the best decisions for our city. Both candidates favor more police and Mr. Stuckart has a plan to use sustainable sales tax to make it happen now. Woodward didn’t have a plan or solution on how to pay for it.

During the forum, Stuckart gave solutions, like removing obstacles for developers, and Woodward had none. I am older and not afraid to walk from Kendall Yards to enjoy downtown and think it’s unhealthy for Woodward to tell people to fear downtown.
