Adjust school terms

I read with sadness your article “Losing Senior Year.” From the ways things are going, it seems unlikely schools will return to class as scheduled on April 27. Articles I have read say that remote learning isn’t going very well since schools and families were not set up to do it.

It seems to me that the best option is best to end the term now and restart the term once the crisis is over in perhaps August. Then the fall term could start in October. If every school and university in the nation did this, no student’s academic or sports life would be lost; seniors could still have all their senior events; spring athletes could still compete and have the opportunity to be seen by scouts; juniors and seniors could take college entrance exams and prepare for college as planned. Just a thought.
