Riverview community

It is with great sadness that I read the article in the newspaper about my much loved Riverview community. (“Riverview skilled nursing to close,” March 27)

We are a lovely community that is a Lutheran-affiliated not-for-profit facility. To see that a professed Christian facility would choose to close their care center in the midst of a “catastrophic event” like the current pandemic is so very hard for my heart to understand.

No matter what the excuse, the stress it must place on the families who have to find a new place for their loved one to go by June must be unbearable. Some of these folks have been part of our community for years.

This is hard to take in and process at a time of great stress. It is also a warning to other folks who plan to commit to such a facility as we have here in the Riverview Village, that if they promise you all levels of care when you move in, be sure that this is included in your contract.
