Share your stimulus
As I write this letter, the House of Representatives is preparing to vote on the stimulus package in response to the COVID-19 crisis. I am grateful that our members of Congress have come together to support this measure.
The individual payments to taxpayers of up to $1,200 per adult will begin arriving in April. For most of us, these payments will be a critical lifeline. But for some of us, these payments are helpful but not essential.
To those of us in the latter category, I encourage you to consider sharing some of this payment with those in great need, either an individual or family you know or to a trusted local community organization (beware of scams). In doing so, the Spokane community can tangibly demonstrate our compassion and care for one another.
And since it is more likely these shared funds will be spent quickly, sharing will support our local economy. You might consider supporting a local business as well; perhaps a few take-out meals from your favorite restaurants?
Thank you, Spokane, for I know we will rise to the challenge as we seek the welfare of our city.
