Takeout standards fall short

While I certainly applaud the efforts of Rick Clark and others to support local restaurants and other people in need (“Community rallies to feed the hungry during crisis,” March 25), the picture of two local owners preparing food is pretty telling.

Many people throughout our country seem to think that this virus will never affect them or the people they contact. Witness the picture of the restaurant co-owners preparing food and contacting the containers being given to the public. Neither is wearing a mask and one isn’t even wearing gloves.

If our concern is truly for those suffering from or because of this virus, shouldn’t owners in the food industry be the first to demonstrate MAXIMUM safety standards? Please give us the confidence we need to support your businesses.
