An out-of-towner’s opinion
I would like to throw my two cents on the table regarding the multimillion-dollar decision on where to locate the replacement for Joe Albi Stadium.
For many years, decades really, I had read and heard of the events at this venue while I was living in Kenmore, north of Seattle. I had a chance to attend my first prep football game there this September last, and enjoyed the whole setting tremendously. After that contest, I attended a dozen more over the next two months. The space allowed for parking … my good God, why would you want to locate this new events center anywhere else but the site where the current stadium now sits? Parking was more than adequate. You could get in and out of the parking areas very quickly after the games.
I have read in The Spokesman-Review numerous times that the seating capacity in the new stadium would be in the neighborhood of 5,000 people. When I attended the “Battle of the Bell” (Mead vs. Mt. Spokane), the announced attendance was close to 9,000. When this contest is played in the new stadium, you would have to turn away 3,000-4,000 people! Why not just build the new stadium that would seat 10,000? You do not want to do the old “would’ve, could’ve, should’ve” in the future.
Just a thought!
One person’s opinion, from an “out of towner”.
