“Hunger Games” in action?

As this pandemic ravages this nation, at the very least our president could put a stay-at- home order in place for all fifty states. After weeks, he still has not done so.

Hoping for “some revelation at hand,” and having endured his stream-of-consciousness press conferences as he “turns and turns in the widening gyre,” and his “feelings” override hard science, we are now being told by the president that governors must continue to compete against each other for access for dwindling resources as a “Hunger Games” or “The Lottery” form of governance is put forth. Really? Excuse my incredulity.

If I may be so bold, a couple of suggestions to the president: Get out of the way and let the health and logistical experts lead. And stop attacking the free press as if they were a pack of jackals. They are doing their jobs and asking the very questions all Americans currently have on their minds. Many of them deserve the John Peter Zenger Award for Press Freedom for their work while they endure your constant infantile belittlements. There is a better way to lead.
