Educators are still educating

Closing schools is just one of the many disappointments taking place during this unprecedented time of life altering-cancellations.

You might think that students would be ecstatic that, in a sense, their summer vacation was extended by 2 months. However, that is not the case. My kids miss their teachers. They miss their friends. They miss school activities. Schools across the nation, however, are finding ways to connect teachers with students to continue learning opportunities. I would like to thank our local teachers for their ongoing commitment to provide at-home instruction and support.

I know they miss their students and their opportunities to teach. I am grateful to these teachers who have spent countless hours before, during and after school helping kids understand concepts and improve their grades. And despite current circumstances, I see them continuing to look for ways to continue to reach out. They are amazing!

Thanks to the principals and support staff for their ongoing communication and constant commitment to teachers, students and parents alike. Handing out Chrome books for home use was a great step in making sure all kids had an electronic device to continue their learning.

Kudos should also go to Ben Small, CVSD school superintendent. He cares. It is evident he is working diligently to provide students with as many learning opportunities as possible. In short, my heart-felt gratitude goes to the many who are stepping up to the challenge to continue educating and caring beyond school walls.
