Socialized transportation

Talk about socialism! I have used the bus TWICE in the last 40 years and yet we non-users are responsible for 89% of the costs and they want more. Imagine if those using the bus had to pay the whole cost. Boy would they be upset, huh?

“Fare- free STA has good ring, Burke says” (April 13). “But agency says riders ante up 11% of operating budget, crucial for service.” Can you believe that, only 11%?! Why should people who use public transportation only have to cover 11% of the cost of their travels? Meanwhile, those of us who do not use the service have to pay thousands of dollars on each of these, insurance, fuel, car payments and maintenance every year and pay 89% of their way.

This needs to stop! Is it any wonder STA can have exorbitant costs because their customers don’t have to pay for them? If they did they would demand costs be cut!

Now what about all this shutting down the economy to save us by demanding “social distancing”? I’d like to see the numbers on what percentage of those still working and are not being forced to stay home are getting this disease as opposed to those of us being told to stay home. If there is pretty much no difference in the infection rate, then we have all been sold a bill of goods in an attempt to collapse the Trump economy before the election. It’s time America went back to work!
