Stay home for the win

I am a student at Mead High School. I have recently seen a trend near my area in empty parking lots, there are circles of cars with teens sitting on the hoods and cabs. The teens may have been six feet apart, but they sure were gathering.

The first rule of social distancing is don’t gather. The second rule is if you can’t self-isolate, wear a mask and stay six feet apart. Most of us teens have the privilege of being comfortable while we stay home safe. After all, we have food and snacks, devices, videogames, streaming and music. Each time we choose to leave the safety of our homes, we endanger essential workers, ourselves, and our own families. I once heard someone say that each time we go out, it is an “exposure event.”

Wearing a mask and staying six feet apart doesn’t make gathering OK. Teens, stay home for the win.
