Bag ban long in the making

In the April 8 edition of the Spokesman-Review a letter from Sandy Riggs indicated a misunderstanding of the reason for the plastic grocery bad ban that begins in January, 2021.

This ban had been considered long before COVID-19 was an issue. It is designed to reduce the volume of non-biodegradable plastic on the earth. Plastic contaminates our oceans and lands, and harms their inhabitants.

Let’s hope other states and countries follow Gov. Inslee’s lead to take a step toward helping restore our environment and save our fellow creatures.
