Leave opinion out of it

Why would the city of Spokane rely on a public opinion poll to decide a public health issue? (“City launches poll for local opinions on stay-home order,” April 23)

The decision on the timing of opening businesses and putting the public at risk should be left to public health professionals, not a push poll. Why would the city rely on amateurs when we have a Spokane Regional Health District to provide expertise? This is not a popularity contest; this is about saving lives.

Until this opinion poll happened Spokane was doing a great job protecting our health and safety. The city of Spokane would do better if they would keep politics and public opinion out of this decision and rely on public health professionals.
