The problem with politicians

As a rule I don’t trust decisions made by politicians. There are just too many co-opting forces in politics pulling in every imaginable direction. I’m confident that most politicians get ethically tied in knots even if they are trying to do what they think is right.

Honest politicians deserve admiration and all politicians deserve to be prayed for and corrected when they make errors, even moral errors.

Making errors that cause people to die is the most destructive kind of error and the hardest to repair after the fact. We should be on the lookout and try to prevent those kinds of mistakes and citizens should work to help politicians avoid them.

We should have believed the medical community about COVID-19 and our government should have started much sooner to prevent deaths and find a vaccine.

And now we should invest in diplomacy rather than trusting in violence in our dealings with Iran.
