Our actions have great impact

Have you ever been pregnant?

Ya, it’s a waiting game.

You sit,

you contemplate

and plan without taking immediate action.

You don’t go to parties,

don’t drink, do drugs or smoke.

You try to stay healthy for the sake of an unborn human that shares your body and goes everywhere with you.

You become very aware of how your thoughts affect your stress levels and thereby pump unnecessary adrenaline into your unborn babe.

For at least nine months,

then you breastfeed

for maybe nine more.

And did I mention, you wait?

Yah, that’s how you take care of the future of humanity -

You pause, consider healthy action,

and put care for the unborn first.

Plans change,

friends change,

and that old world moves on

without you.

You let go.

In some ways, it’s good training — this pause, this sacrifice, this selflessness — to consider how our actions pulsate in the blood of humanity.

“For if we wish to change the world we must begin by changing ourselves,” Stephen Harrod Buhner….who also quoted a French protest sign that read:

“The first act of disobedience is contemplation.”
