Ready to go back to school

I am a local seconnd-grade teacher who is ready to get back into the classroom with children!

COVID is confusing for sure, but I feel that we could get children back to school safely by allowing families choice. Families who feel safe send their children back to school and those who don’t sign up for the online schooling option. Teachers who have no health issues teach children in the classroom. Teachers who have fragile health issues and don’t feel safe teach the online programs.

We are not all going to agree on COVID issues, but creative options such as those already put out by local school districts can keep everyone happy and safe. Blanket “all or nothing” decrees stating that children and teachers won’t be safe at school do not help the situation.

All of the teachers who I know want to get back into the classroom and we are ready to do our essential duty! We can do this! Let’s not let politics and fear run our communities! Let’s not let extreme, polarized thinking divide us! Leave the decision making to each individual school district and to each family. We can do this safely, creatively and collaboratively! We can do it together!
