Culp wrong for Washington

Loren Culp, like most Republicans, is misleading Washington voters when he stated “less than 1% of people die” — the actual percentage for our state is 3.2% — and his belief that children “should not be compelled to wear a mask” when they return to school is asinine. The information provided to us is misleading, children are susceptible to and die from the novel coronavirus.

Culp’s equating Gov Inslee’s actions to those of President Roosevelt’s during WWII is way out in left field. There’s a big difference in taking people out of their homes, sending them to internment camps, have them lose everything they have, and shutting down the state in hopes of containing the spread of this deadly virus.

I do agree that “The governor should not dictate every aspect of our lives,” but I also understand that would apply to “normal” times and at the present, we are not living in normal times. As such, the governor has taken what he deems the appropriate actions to protect our citizens.

If Culp had his way, he would open up Washington state completely and like other states that have done that too early, we would also see a tremendous spike in COVID-19 cases. Loren Culp is not the man we want leading our state.
