Sabotaging the postal service

Donald Trump is sabotaging the Postal Service to disrupt mail-in voting. While starving the Postal Service of money he gloats on Fox news: “That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.” An August 14 Vox article reveals the recent removal of “ten percent of the Postal Service’s high-speed sorting machines.” This includes large numbers “from key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida.”

The Postal Service is explicitly authorized by the US constitution. It is the nation’s only true universal delivery network. It is critical to rural areas, the elderly, military veterans, and millions of businesses. And yes, the Postal Service will serve a crucial role handling mail-in ballots during a pandemic.

Donald Trump whines of rigged elections. He is rigging the next election right before our eyes and destroying a venerable government service in the bargain. Don’t let this happen. Use a ballot drop-box if necessary to vote out this vile hypocrite. Our democracy depends on it.
