Changes to postal system dangerous

One of our democratic mainstays: our postal system, is being shamelessly attacked by the Trump administration. Trumps postmaster general recently appointed, has replaced 23 U.S.P.S. administrators, removed over 500 mail-sorting machines country-wide, and has removed hundreds of the blue drop-off mail boxes around the country. Montana’s governor noticed these boxes being removed, and used his power to have these removals stopped.

Trump has actually stated that these measures are for the purpose of limiting mail-in voting; at a time which necessitates this type of voting, due to the pandemic. Mail-in voting has been shown to be very safe, as fact checkers have noted.

The short-sightedness of these postal changes, along with cut backs in working hours for mail delivery persons, has caused significant delivery slowdowns. People who rely on these deliveries for medications, social security checks, and other vital necessities, are left in precarious situations.

Not only are these actions dangerous for many fellow Americans, but the danger to our democracy is certainly a factor. This amounts to election interference as well.

We should all be outraged.
