New taxes only add to pain

The city council has already passed a 1% property tax increase and now you are wanting to pass a sales tax, which you know will hurt the lower-income people. My question to Mr. Beggs is, if you can’t afford a mortgage, and you are working, who is paying for that mortgage? People should have to pay for what they get!

At this time when the country has surpassed $27 trillion in cumulative national debt, and Americans’ share of the debt is skyrocketing, it’s incredible that you are seeking more money out of people who are barely holding on. Of course our politicians such as the council and our governor think that since the federal government can print money, that means we must have money. There is no money tree out there!

Any entity in the Spokane area that is asking for more taxes or levy money needs to realize that this pandemic is destroying America. I notice that none of the government workers, politicians have missed a paycheck. They seem to not have to worry about their next meal or if they will have a job. Unfortunately their jobs are paid for by taxpayers dollars, and as Czar Inslee has closed the businesses that bring in the revenue, and taken our jobs, there will be no money to pay for you lavish lifestyle.

According to the U.N. they estimate that 130 million additional people will starve to death this year as a result of the economic damage from the lockdown. No more taxes or levies.
