Religious freedom

I am not religious. The Constitution’s section on religious freedom includes the right to be free from religion. The new Supreme Court, and altogether too many state governments, seem not to have read that part. I want my government to take action to protect me from being forced to live by religious rules.

I call upon Congress and the presidency to stop the continued assault by some religions on my freedom, and to continue to protect religion for those who are believers. Theocracy, however, is not democracy. Church and state are constitutionally separate. Can we not work to keep it that way? I would never intrude upon a person’s religious beliefs, and I expect the same respect for my beliefs.

I hope that someone will suggest to the members of Congress and the Supreme Court that they actually take into account the Constitution in their decisions.
