Socialism rebuttal

I had to comment on Candy Frankel’s idea (Letters to the Editor, Nov. 24) that socialism is the answer to our broken healthcare. Obviously, history has taught her nothing.

“Free” health care doesn’t exist anywhere. Citizens are required to pay astronomical taxes to cover the cost and it’s almost impossible to be seen by a doctor. That’s why there are so many people living elsewhere (such as Canada) flocking to the U.S, often to Spokane, just for health care.

So you think mandating health care workers to do their jobs for free is the answer? That’s just another way for the government to take control of our lives.

A good illustration of that would be: Mice die in mousetraps because they don’t understand why the cheese is free. The same thing happens with socialism.
