Health board must act
The announcement of the resignation of seven members of the Health Advisory Panel leaves me increasing sad and concerned for our community. I completely understand and support their inability to allow their names and actions to be represented by Ms. Clark’s detrimental leadership.
At the same time, I mourn the loss of yet more strong and clear voices into equity issues for public health in this community. A group of seven (and perhaps more) professionals of the highest caliber find it necessary to resign positions which were meant to give direction to our hardworking employees of the Regional Health District. Their action is a result of too great a disparity between good leadership and wrong leadership. The community should be alarmed.
How much evidence does the Board of Health need to make the decision to treat this issue at its root cause? The removal of the administrator responsible for her failure of leadership and possibly a redesign of the organizational chart at the district seems to be a necessary place to start. I hope the board can be brave enough to take action. The health of this community — ALL of this community — in this fragile time may be dependent on that bravery.
