Take the reins, Woodward

The Jan. 23, 2020, Rebecca White and Adam Shanks article “City, county now require open union negotiations, but they haven’t happened and may never” is very disturbing.

In this article Councilman Cathcart was quoted as voicing his support for upholding the city charter while Mayor Woodward’s administration through spokesperson Marlene Feist has stated that they’ll probably wait for a court’s guidance to follow the recent and highly popular (75% voter approval) charter policy amendment.

Mayor Woodward actively backed Prop.1 both privately and publicly. It’s time to sharpen her spurs, take the reins and actively support and apply this highly popular charter amendment. After all, who’s in charge, the bureaucracy or the mayor?

Councilman Cathcart, please call the mayor and offer her a dose of political courage. Her supporters and 75% of the voters would appreciate it!
