USA is not declining

Mr. Gerson’s column on Feb. 1 (“The path to being a declining nation”) makes several statements that require refutation. He says, “Trump’s direct appeal to racial resentment, …, his cruelty and menace require a separate category.” Gerson’s statements are directly refuted by statements from African American clergy members and MLK Jr’s own family members, and other public figures.

Telling lies over and over do not make the statements true. The economy is helping people of all ethnicities and America is stronger and safer because of President Trump’s policies and the actions of our government. The USA is not a declining nation.
