BNSF’s BS
A recent article concerning the Euclid Bridge (“Residents growing restless over long, rough detour,” Feb. 8) indicated that BNSF was waiting on consultants before they can determine what course of action they will take. I call, in the words of Trump, BS.
They were able to move an engine out of a river in less than 30 days. But they cannot find a bridge plan in 8 months. It is not like this is the Golden Gate and for sure not the first bridge they built. It is nothing more than a 100-foot span that could be accomplished with three precast concrete tee’s from Central Premix Precast and some foundation work.
If this were costing them revenue they would fix the problem immediately. It is too bad there in no vehicle to force them to expedite the repair. The Federal Railroad Administration should give them a deadline for when the bridge needs to be completed or fines will be levied for every day it is not. They just don’t care and have no incentive to act in a timely manner. Two years is not an acceptable time frame and no guarantee they will even have the bridge completed by then.
